My Passion Board
So, it snowed here. A lot. Work has been closed all week and you can only watch so many episodes of What Not to Wear before the insanity kicks in.
Luckily the lovely Cherie of The Travel Bee (and later on Sasha of On Ur Way Travel) tagged me to participate in Got Passport’s “Passion Board Project.” The idea is to make a collage that represents the things you are most passionate about in life.
Here is what I came up with:
The lower left hand corner represents travel, a major passion of mine of course. There is a picture of the Taj Mahal, a tropical island and a little national geographic (the favorite magazine of 10 year old me). I also included one of my business cards because blogging has become such a huge part of my life.
Higher up there is a postcard from London. I often joke that if you can have romantic feelings for a city that London is the love of my life. I miss it all the time.
There is a picture of a stack of books. Apart from travel, my other great passion is literature. I was an English major in college and even now I read 2-5 books at a time. I’ve also stuck in a picture of me in front of the Eagle and Child pub in Oxford (where CS Lewis and JR Tolkien used to hang out) because I love literary tourism.
In the middle of the collage is a picture of my family when I was very young. We did a lot of travel when I was a kid so I owe a lot of my wanderlust to them. I’ve also stuck in a picture of my friends being goofy because I am a very social person and I have a lot of close friends who I’ve known for ten or more years.
I’ve also included a couple of pictures of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly because I love their personal style and grace and it’s something I (often unsuccessfully) try to emulate in my own life.
Scattered through the collage are some other things I really like: puppies, Diet Coke (I’m an addict), a dove for peace, and a shot of the cosmos (I am so intrigued by astronomy although I’m quite a novice).
Most significant maybe, is the word “Stories!” It is my greatest ambition in life to have the most fun, collect interesting experiences and be the person with the best stories to tell when I’m 80.
So there you have it, that’s me in a tiny nutshell. I’d encourage you to make your own passion collage- it can be a very clarifying experience. I’m going to stick mine on my wall by my desk to remind me of what’s important
