Friday Postcard: Sarajevo, Bosnia

Posted on 14. Jan, 2011 by in Photos

In honor of my very fun interview for Amateur Travel Podcast I thought I would post one of my favorite shots of Sarajevo. Above is the Latin Bridge, the very spot where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914, effectively starting World War 1. I like it because although it represents history it shows that there is so much more to sarajevo than the recent wars. Basically much of 20th century world history was effected by the sparks that flew here.

Nice shot. We liked Sarajevo a lot! There is so much more to Bosnia than the Balkan wars. It’s such a great place!

There’s something about this photo. It’s so harmonious and well-balanced. I like the composition and the natural color composition of the landscape. Nice shot!

So pretty – even if it has been part of a tumultuous part of history!

So many people I know who have been to Sarejevo had said it was one of the highlights of their trip to the Balkans. I think I would feel the same way and plan on going this summer. Great photo!
