Friday Postcard: Hoboken, New Jersey
Posted on 03. Sep, 2010 by Steph in Photos
I may owe New Jersey an apology. After years of family road trips up and down the turnpike, I may have agreed with the common “America’s Armpit” assessment. That was until I had a Jersey native offer to show me more of what his state had to offer. After spending a sunny evening sprawled on the grass in Hoboken, New Jersey, watching NYC across the river, I had to agree. Jersey’s pretty cool after all.

I agree — I visited Hoboken for the first time this summer and was surprised by how much I liked it! Great views, too…

Yes, poor much-maligned New Jersey. I’m not quite sure why it’s gotten the rep it has, but I’m sure it’s not deserved. You can find gems there, just as you can anywhere. You just need to look.

Yes, like most places, it really depends on where you go, isn’t it? I had friends who lived in lovely Hoboken & we had a fabulous Halloween in New Jersey with Wendy Perrin & family.

If one of the icons of travel lives in New Jersey, you know it can’t be all bad.
Their neighborhood was ideal for Halloween!

I lived in Hoboken for years before I took off and went traveling around the world. I loved it there! I had a view of the Manhattan skyline from my bedroom window and could get to my midtown Manhattan job faster than people on the Upper East Side. But I had a bigger and cheaper apartment than my friends living in Manhattan. Great town.

Thanks for the kind words about New Jersey – we can use all the good PR we can get, thanks to Jersey Shore & Housewives. In NJ, I love that I have quick access to NYC, but can still live in a house with a yard & enjoy quieter, less hurried life.

This postcard seems to say so much: it’s time to relax! I saw it today, on Sunday, but it inspires the same thing! Lovely photos!
