Mount Shasta is only the fifth highest peak in California (at 14,179 feet), but you’d think it was as tall as Everest when you first see its peak rising above the clouds. The snow-covered mountain dominated the landscape for almost an hour during our drive up the I-5 to the Winter Olympics, making it the most intimidating yet majestic sight on our road trip.
