Today’s postcard comes from fellow Emory alumni Erin Halvey. It is the Chapel Bridge in Lucerne which is the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe.

We were there earlier this year, I especially liked the 17th century historical paintings inside the bridge – just amazing!
Thanks for the postcard, it brought back nice memories

So beautiful! I love that bridge.
I’ve never been but one of my brothers has and I was delighted with his photos.

Lucerne bridge is really awesome! I was lucky enough to see it a few years ago (well… maybe a lot!), before it got burned. The inner part of the bridge was really stunning, full of amazing paintings.
When I read that the bridge had been strongly damaged by the fire, I felt so sorry that such an unique piece of art and testimonial of the past had gone destroyed.
I do not really know the extent of the damages, although I believe it was great. Notwithstanding, Lucerne hasn’t lost its charm, as Switzerland overall.

Thanks
That bridge was amazing, loved the medieval Dance of Death paintings. This photo is from 2007. Lucerne was a quickie day trip from my quickie 4 days in Zurich.
