Guest Post Feature: A Poll

Posted on 26. Apr, 2010 by in Housekeeping

I have a dilemma and I need YOUR help reader.

For the past few months I’ve been running a guest post every Thursday. We’ve learned How to Drink Like an Australian, discovered Homeopathic Remedies from the Road and discussed the Pros and Cons of Solo Travel.

I’ve been enjoying the guest posts. It widens the blogs scope and lets use discuss subjects outside of my particular expertise. Additionally, I’ve gotten an enormous amount of requests from other writer’s who would like to be featured on here.  Not to mention that I am a busy stressed out person and I’m not sure I have time to write three whole articles a week on my own.

Still, I understand if a guest post every single week is a bit much. While some of the posts I’ve put up have been amazing, they can vary a lot in content and quality. Perhaps people would prefer more consistency.

So I’m asking for your input. Are you enjoying the steady parade of guest posts, or would you rather I scale them back to just one or two a month? I can see pros and cons to both approaches but I’d really like to hear from YOU: The readers!

So do your civic duty and vote:

Feedback in the comments also appreciated!

Honestly, I say go ahead and have guest posts as often as you want. All I care about is quality content, I don’t care who writes it. If it helps you out to have guests, then you should do that. It’s your blog. Of course, it would be weird if there was never anything written by you on your blog, but somehow I don’t think it’ll ever come to that. :-)

I think a change of pace is always good. It’s nice to hear other perspectives and there’s only so much one person can do, you know? In the end, it’s up to you how frequently you want to put up guest posts but I like them.

I say do them as often as you’d like. The only thing I ever see wrong with guest posts (on other sites) is if they aren’t the right fit for the site – either in tone or content. Stretching the boundaries is good, breaking them can make them feel disconnected.

But I haven’t seen that with your guest posts, so keep ‘em coming!

Guest posts are always good provided they are well written and relevant to your site. I don’t see any need to discontinue it.

  5. I agree with all the comments above, I think guest posts are good and can provide other blogs for your readers to follow. I know I have read some really good guest posts and started following their own blog after.

I like discovering a new voice, a new blog every now and again. Of course, I visit this site because I enjoy what you have to say. If you don’t want to maintain a regular guest posting schedule, I’d say try doing 1 every 2 weeks instead of every week.
