Honestly, I’m going to stop saying “this was a busy month” because every month is turning out to be a busy one. As I get closer to The Big Trip and as Twenty-Something Travel continues to grow, things are only going to get more hectic. To my surprise I like it that way! Most of the time anyway.
Here is what’s been going on this month:
- Thanks to good friends and awesomely cheap airfare (hooray for Virgin Atlantic) I took a last minute trip out to the Bay area to visit my friend Susan. And developed an unexpected crush.
- I’ve begun a four-month internship under Andy Hayes of Sharing Travel Experiences. I am really excited to be working on some cool project and soaking up some of his Obi Wan Kenobi like expertise.
- I wrote a guest post for Backpacking Matt called A Local’s Perspective: Washington, DC. Be sure to check it out (and Matt’s awesome blog as well).
- My unofficial Twitter goal was to hit 2000 followers before I left for my trip. Well I hit that milestone this past week- 5 months early!
- I’m going to make a decision on whether to continue featuring weekly guest posts, hopefully with some feedback from you guys.
Finally, my favorite links from April:
- Kelsey at Drifting Focus lists Four Big Things That Make Travel Better. I am doing very poorly at this list sadly.
- An intense but very useful article from Matador on How Female Travelers Can Deal With Sexual Harassment and Assault Overseas.
- One of my new favorite bloggers, Gerard at Journey Journalist writes 6 Helpful Hints to Quitting Work for Travel. Filing these for a few months from now!
- My buddy Adam from Travels of Adam is leaving on his own trip imminently. In preparation he presents this helpful list: Planning a RTW trip in 23 steps.
- Loved this introspective post on Traveling Savage about The Importance of the Quest.
- Lillie from Around the World L explores a touchy but important topic in her post Why RTW Travel Doesn’t Need to be a Rich, White Thing.
- Did you know that travelling can help you save money even AFTER you come home? So says Suzy Guese in Raking in the Miles and Money By Traveling.
- Social networking is great, but it’s easy to go overboard, especially on the road. Mike Barish on Gadling gives you a rundown on what is and isn’t okay: Social Networking and Travel: Do’s & Don’ts.
- The always-brave Brooke Versus World tackles the glamorous subject of travel underwear: For Your Viewing Pleasure… A Funny Video Review of My Travel Undies. (For more awesome girl travel tips check out Brooke’s genius Female Travel Underground)
