Winter is over! Sort of. Hopefully. This month was really busy at the 9-5, but now that my big conference is over I can concentrate on more important things: like a trip to Cali in a couple of weeks! Also going on:
- I’m now under the 6-month mark on the countdown until my trip begins! It has always seemed imminently close and incredibly far away, but it seems less far now. It’s time to start making real arrangements so you can look forward to some more trip planning articles in the future.
- A lot of this month has been dedicated to applying for the Host Our Coast contest to spend the summer blogging Ocean City, Maryland. While certainly not the most glamorous city on earth, I think it would have been a great experience (and a terrific excuse to quit my job 3 months early). I didn’t win, which maybe was for the best. But I was really blown away by the show of support I got, so if you voted for me- Thanks!
- While I wasn’t quite as guest post crazy as in February I did write one post, for the blog Untemplater, on Travel and the Single Girl. A lot of you headed over and left some great comments which made me happy- I’m really proud of this one!
- Twenty-Something Travel did its first (hopefully of many!) giveaway this month in conjunction with Hostel Dog. Dozens of people participated, congratulations to StarlaGurl for winning the gift certificate!
But enough about me…
My favorite articles from March:
- I got a terrific amount of feed back from my post, We’re All Travelers here, including a couple of awesome response posts, my favorite is from Candice Does the World: I Don’t Give a Damn How you Travel.
- While there is no “right” way to travel there certainly is a wrong way. Check out How Not to be a Stupid Tourist in Thailand at The Road Forks.
- It’s actually from last month, but I just LOVE this interview with 77-year-old vagabond Sallie Latch on Vagabonding Life. Sallie has been traveling the word as a fearless solo female for over 60 years!
- Abby Hesser at A Chick with Baggage has a fearless story about hook ups on the road called An Un-Love Story.
- From Career Break Secrets a helpful post on 10 Ways to Avoid Career Break Travel Burnout.
- I really like this MatadorLife post called Someday Syndrome & the System of I-Can’ts because it reminded me of my own childhood affinity for “I can’t.” Glad my parents broke me of that habit!
- Vegetarians face special challenges on the road so I’m always happy to post more tips for them. This post on Difficulties Traveling as a Vegetarian is from Have Pack, Will Travel.
- I may have actually screamed “Yes!” out loud when I read this Boots’n’All travel article: Why It’s Not Crazy for Working Professionals to Quit Their Jobs and Travel the World. A must read for twenty-somethings.
- With all the planning I’m doing it’s easy to get discouraged, so I was cheered to read 7 Ways My Trip Already Kicks Ass by Joel at Freedonia Post.
- Savings don’t stop just because your trip has begun. Always awesome FoxNomad has great suggestions, 7 Things You Can Really Do Without To Save Money While Traveling.
