Friday Postcard: Parque Tayrona, Colombia

This week’s postcard comes from Kyle of On Our Own Path. Of this photo Kyle says:

This photo is from Parque Tayrona in the northern shores of Colombia.  It is far and away one of the most stunning places that we saw in South America.  The shelter that you can see is actually furnished with hammocks where travelers can sleep.  We stayed there a couple of nights, waking up each morning to the sun and ocean all around us.  It’s a good thing, too, since the night brought plenty of storms and wind that liked to try to push us out of our hammocks.  It’s worth it, though, for the pristine and gorgeous surroundings that we could explore during the day.

    I know what you mean! I was eaten alive by mosquitos sleeping in a beachside hammock at Tayrona, to the point where ALL my Medellin photos are marred by the fact that I look like I have chicken-pox all over my face, and it’s still one of the highlights. What a beautiful place!

    @Camden : Ya, the beach side spots had a lot of mosquitoes and the spots on the rock got soaked with rain. It was a “pick your poison” kind of deal. Totally worth it, though!

    Oh, wow! The colors in that photo are amazing. I can practically hear the waves crashing. That’s a trip I’d love to do. I had to cancel a planned Colombia vacation a few months ago. Would love to right that mistake!
