Friday Postcard: Tintern, Wales

Tintern Abbey, originally uploaded by StephYo.

I love ruins; the skeletal remains of the past never cease to capture my attention and imagination. I know I’m not alone in this, as the high arching remains of Tintern Abbey have captured the artistic imagination of  Wordsworth, Tennyson, and JMW Turner.

I love the contrast of the bright green grass right under the ruins. Great photo!

I can’t believe I studied an architecture program in England and visited 2093209320 cathedrals, but didn’t come here. Gorgeous.

Ahh I had the most insane tour guide there – he was dressed like a monk, had crazy eyes and was extremely longwinded. Only made the experience more memorable, of course…
