In Case you Missed it Links: December
Posted on 29. Dec, 2009 by Steph in Links, Resources
Hello! If you are reading this on the website, you can probably tell there have been some changes here at Twenty-Something Travel. The biggest change, of course, being a site redesign. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now. It took me some time to find a theme I really loved, and even longer to get it up and working properly (special thanks go out to a certain tech savvy English gentleman who was able to figure out what even HostGator tech support could not).
I think the new look is more streamlined and functional. It should be easier to find older articles now and to connect with me on flickr, facebook and twitter. Plus I think it’s quite pretty! If you are reading this on your RSS please click on over and check it out!
Secondly, this popular link rundown post, which stated out as weekly, then moved to biweekly is now going to be a monthly feature. I’ll admit it’s partially laziness, but in truth I think this is going to work out better all around. At the end of each month I will give you an update on the blog and a rundown of my favorite travel articles from the past month.
In January there will be more exciting changes, events, and even possibly a contest! I will tell you more about these things in the New Year. Until then, here are your links for December:
- I’ve made my opinions pretty clear on the subject, but in Seriously Though, Quitting your Job to Travel? Shawn of Rerunaround takes a more sober, realistic look at making that leap.
- In a similar vein Christine from Almost Fearless examines What Redesigning Your Life and Traveling the World Really Means. As someone whose been living a non-traditional lifestyle for quite some time, Christine knows her stuff!
- From the Indie Travel Podcast How to be a Tourist In Your Own Backyard. Advice I could stand to take! I complain about restlessness when I have the entire nation’s capital in my backyard to explore!
- Instead of a played out list of the same old safety tips Stop Having a Boring Life gives you a list of 30 Travel Tips that Don’t Suck.
- Gadling lists 5 Reasons to Travel After a Break-Up that I couldn’t agree more with! Nothing like travel to give you some perspective.
- Last week I posted some more Iceland pictures. Coincidentally Anil from Foxnomad was in Iceland last week. His experience was rather different then mine, he discusses it in 7 Reasons Why You Can And Should Visit Iceland In The Winter.
- A great reminder from The Art of Backpacking: 7 Things you do Backpacking that You Should Still Do at Home. The skills you learn traveling can last you a life time.
- From TripCrazed, The Sexiest Cities for Hooking Up. No commentary needed.
- It’s not technically a travel article, but I found Dumb Little Man’s 20 Powerful Beliefs That Will Push You Toward Success to be inspiring no matter what goal you are working towards.
- Finally, a recap of The 2nd DC Travel Tweet Up by Dave at Go Backpacking.
On Thursday we will have part 3 of Alex’s Argentinean Adventure and then it’s fearlessly forward into the New Year! I hope you all have ridiculous, fantastic, safe New Years celebrations.
