Heya!
That is pretty damn cool. i've been studying French since I was in 8th grade, but still far from fluent. The best way is indeed to move to a french-speaking country but i havent had time for that lately. I was in Paris a few months ago and loved it!! :)

Cheers

I liked your story about becoming more fluent in proportion to the amount of wine you had drunk. I've had similar experiences (in English and French) as my inhibitions were washed away with wine. I think the point is to forget about making a fool of yourself or what people might think. You might even be surprised to find that they think you are doing a good job. If you continue to be intimidated by what people think then think about it this way. French is not just their language, it is your language too. You have as much right to speak it as they do simply not as well.

The Alliance Francaise (alliancefr.org) is a great option if you're looking to learn French in France- or throughout the world. I spent a summer in Paris at the Alliance Francaise, and it was without a doubt the best language class I've ever experienced. I made friends from all over the world, but our only common language was French! I learned a ton about French culture, as well as the cultures of my classmates. Now I'm looking to continue my French studies at the Alliance Francaise in San Francisco!

Oh, I love that. My goal is to become fluent in French at some point, when I have the money to learn. That school sounds great.

So jealous. I dream about spending 3 months in France where your only obligation is to try to learn as much of the language and about the culture as you can. Beautiful pictures!

Great interview and great advice about picking language schools! I, too, spent 3 months in a French language school (Montreux, Switzerland.) However, my French hasn't stuck with me as well as Jason's. haha. Maybe it'll be like riding a bike if and when I return to France/Switzerland...
