Friday Postcard: Madrid, Spain

Temple of Debod, originally uploaded by StephYo.

Did you know that there is an Egyptian Temple in the center of Madrid? The Temple of Debod was given as a gift to the people of Spain by the Egyptian Government in 1968 as a thank you for their involvement in saving archeological treasures from flooding.

The temple can be found in the Parque de Rosales. Admission is free and you can wander around the strange interior. It’s a genuine piece of Ancient Egypt in the center of Spain!
