The thrill and the slight terror of leaving without a "safety net" can be almost as addicting as the travel itself! Testing yourself and finding out you can survive out there on your own is an amazing high. And I agree with Grant that though the scenery is great for photo ops the best memories I have from all of my trips have been the people I've met and befriended. This is a great interview, Stephanie! I’m curious as to why he left college with only 7 credits left — after all that work, it seems a little odd to throw all of that time/money away when you could just stay in school a little longer, finish up the degree, and then go travel the world before entering the workforce. But to each his own I really regret not doing something like this right out of school — it’s so hard to pack up and do something when you’re in the working world. Very neat story!
