Mission Delores on Delores st. in SF has a cemetery of the old settlers at the mission. You would never know as its in the city, but its behind the old mission. Beautiful and peaceful.

Luarca’s cemetery, it is probably one of the nicest of the world, placed between the sea and the mountain in a small seaworthy village in Asturias, in the north of Spain, really charming.

the most beautifull cemetary in the worl has to be the holy shrine of two great grandsons of the holy Prophet p.b.u.h. & f.

Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx is one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world.

The cemetery in a quaint little village called Painswick in the Cotswolds (England, UK) with many (apparently 99) simply sculptured yew trees but stunning in effect

one of my very favorite artists, kristi malakoff, did an entire set of german grave crosses by papercutting. i’m not too great at explaining it, but you really should check it out! http://www.kristimalakoff.com/Paper%20Cutting.html the crosses are cut from paperboard, which is just phenomenal!

Staglieno Cimitero in Genoa, Italy and the Cimitero Monumentale are the most beautiful cemeteries on earth. If you are looking for sculptures–these have the most beautiful.

Great photos, love the list as well. There are definitely some cemeteries on this list that I want to see. I’ve never cemeteries to be creepy, well not too creepy. I do get a little freaked out if the ground is soft over a grave and get the willies… haha

Good list, but I would add Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta (surrounded by skyscrapers!), Lafayette in New Orleans (for sheer creepy factor) and Magnolia in Charleston (on the water, has the crew of the country’s first submarine).
Google them! Loooove cemeteries.
