Beautiful city! If you are a citizen of the EU over 65 years old, you can travel free on all the local transport. Just show a photo identity card or photo copy of your passport. with date of birth. On the train from the airport you have to get a (free) ticket. from the ticket office, other wise just show the passport when asked. The walking tours don't seem to be free any more. Restaurants are quite expensive, but there are fast food places. Local beer is cheap and good. Wine is mainly sold by a 100ml glass (1DL) deci-litre) Well worth a visit! There is another company called Free Budapest Tours and they also offer free tours twice a day a morning one at 11 am starts in front of the Opera House and an afternoon one at 2 pm starts in Vörösmarty sq. Great shopping at the Central Market (I think that's the name), and you can haggle and get great deals. I picked up tons of gifts for all my family, good quality stuff.
