Bare Hill Pond, originally uploaded by StephYo.

We are deep in a classically sticky, humid, miserable summer here in DC, which got me thinking about summer past. For most of my childhood summer meant running around the small town in Central Massachusetts where my grandparents lived. We didn’t sail but we swam in this lake every summer…cautiously watching out for water snakes or really creepy rogue seaweed.

Hi there, nice posting. I wonder if you still go swimming there now? Or is it safe to swim there.

    Regards,

Unfortunately my grandparents have passed away, so we no longer get to spend summer’s up there. I’m pretty sure people still swim there, they have a nice little town beach that was always popular with the locals.
