On Tuesday I wrote about iTunes University and it’s practical applications for travel. This got me thinking about other ways you can use your iPod (or iPhone) while traveling. Here are some links that prove your iPod can do more than just distract you on long train rides. Here are some tips for tricking out your music player:

Sadly right now I only have an old dinosaur ipod without a touch screen or anything! I foresee an upgrade to a sweet iPhone before I go abroad next year…

I am DYING to get an iPhone but have not been able to justify spending an additional $30 a month for the data plan. I especially wanted one last week when I was wandering around Seattle and wish I had the hop-stop application, google maps, and just the internet to try and find a good place for lunch. Having a blackberry in New York saved me from getting lost countless times. I definitely would recommend getting some sort of phone with data for the constant traveler.

Yeah I’m thinking I might get an ipod touch instead; it has almost all the same functions as an iphone except for the actual phone-ness. I bought one for my brother last year for Christmas and they are pretty neat.

There are so many good apps for both iPhone/iPod Touch that don’t cost anything. Get the touch, cheaper, no data plans, and can do almost everything the iPhone can.
